Port Charlotte, Florida

Welcome to Charlotte Harbor & the Gulf Islands, a tranquil getaway on Florida's Southwest Gulf Coast. As Florida’s premier eco-tourism destination, we are off the beaten path and away from the crowds. A place where the pace of life moves with the rhythm of the tides and hospitality is measured in warm, friendly greetings.

In 1996, Money Magazine announced that this area was "the Number Two Best Place to Live in America." Since then, Charlotte County has received many similar accolades, including “Number One Best Place to Live in the South.”  Very recently, Golf Digest ranked us the "Third Best Place to Live and Play Golf in America."

Charlotte County has about 12.5 miles of coast beaches along the length of its barrier islands.  The county has a total of 70 parks and recreational areas.  Charlotte Harbor offers world-class boating, fishing, and sailing in one of SAIL Magazine’s “10 Greatest Places to Sail.”  Abundant nature explorations, include paddling on hundreds of miles of Blueways trails, exploring five National Wildllife Refuges and discovering prime birding opportunities for spectacular photography excursions. Relax on our uncrowded beaches and enjoy unique shopping and dining experiences and a thriving arts community.

So, whether you enjoy gliding down the Peace River in a kayak, going one on one with a 100-pound Tarpon in the Gulf of Mexico, munching on a hot dog while enjoying a baseball game or enjoying a romantic evening overlooking Charlotte Harbor at Fishermen’s Village, we feel certain Charlotte County is for you.
